Integrated Systems Save Time, Reduce Risk of Error and Keep Parties Informed
DALLAS, TX and SEATTLE, WA, December 11, 2006 - As more courts support the efficiencies of e-filing, e-service and online document sharing, LexisNexis and Lucid IQ provide even more reasons for law firms to adopt the technology.
In early 2003 LexisNexis approached Lucid IQ to determine the feasibility of using the substantial case databases maintained by Lucid IQ’s Bay Area clients. The quantity and quality of information in their CaseManagerPro systems would dramatically enhance the effectiveness of online information management in the San Francisco courts.
“Lucid IQ already had data from thousands of cases being maintained by their clients in the CaseManagerPro system” says Tobias Hartmann, LexisNexis Vice President and Managing Director of Draft, File & Serve. “By tapping into that data and bringing their clients online, the courts and parties to the litigation had more current and accurate information with less work and far fewer headaches.”
Some Lucid IQ clients allow data to be uploaded each night to the File & Serve database. Service verification, addresses, new activity, change in status and other data can update automatically and trigger notification to counsel using the system.
“Lucid IQ’s ability to upload that data to our File & Serve system,” Mr. Hartmann continued, “including new cases and updated information daily, allows the law firms to maintain data only once in their internal systems as they normally would.”
Many jurisdictions now allow e-filing, e-service and document sharing at the discretion of the particular court. “Courts, counsel and parties to litigation all benefit by centralizing and automating information” says Richard Spies, CEO of Lucid IQ. “We’ve always facilitated sharing case, schedule, and document information among clients, co-counsel, co-defendants, and MDL counsel. This is another step to closing the time and data validity gap with meaningful information.”
Already deployed ad hoc with a number of firms that are mutual clients, Lucid IQ clients can now elect to have the File & Serve capability activated in CMPv3.0, their latest workflow and information management enterprise solution.
